The goal of most small businesses is to grow in the most effective way possible. There is no doubt your target audience is online whether they are searching Google, scanning Facebook, or checking email. In order to reach these people, you need to be there too. Creating intriguing, relevant content that speaks to your audience will help you get more sales.

Content that generates more leads

You hear about it all the time. “To increase your web presence, you need good content.” But what does that mean? Face it, you’re busy. The last thing you have time to do is sit down and write an article. Even if you did, what would you write about?

Don’t think of content as writing endless articles about your day without ever knowing why. Think of content as giving your consumers a trusted resource that answers their questions.

Video

Your videos do not need to be recorded in a studio, scripted, and clipped by a professional to publish online. Truth is, if you are giving your audience something they can relate to, or something that is valuable, you can record a short 30 second video right on your smartphone and still get engagement.

IDEAS FOR A VIDEO:

  • Get a testimonial from your customer as soon as you finish or sell your service

  • 30 second “How To” on a task your customers frequently ask about

  • New/old team member introductions

  • Community outreach you and your team are volunteering at

 

Infographics

Infographics are a visual representation of data that can be easily shared and skimmed by your audience. Here are infographic examples by Visual.ly. These can be as basic or as detailed as you’d like, as long as you are getting the idea across.

IDEAS FOR AN INFOGRAPHIC:

  • You are presenting data (i.e. 75% of people have radon in their home and don’t know it.)

  • It is difficult to explain or understand in written form

  • Your audience responds better to visual information – check your share and like statistics on social media to see what your audience engages in more.

Ebooks

Although compiling content for an ebook or white paper may seem daunting, it doesn’t have to be. Ebooks are resources your potential customer will find valuable enough to give their information (i.e. an email address) for. Create an ebook that your audience can download from your website.

  • Compile blog posts you already know resonate with your audience

  • Gather ten questions your clients are asking and answer them

  • Get opinions on a topic in your industry from industry experts or associations

Some cringe at the thought of blog posts. Blogs are a way to keep your audience informed, and gives them a place to return for the helpful information your offering. They’re also easy to share on social media and email.
